The event was presented by the Mykola Kulish Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre (Kherson). Director: Honored Artist of Ukraine, Serhii Pavliuk.
Character and Performer: Mariia Shapochka. General Director and Artistic Director of the Theatre: People's Artist of Ukraine, Oleksandr Knyha.
The play tells the story of a young girl from Mariupol who, despite losing her home, being separated from her mother, and being forcibly deported to Russia, managed to keep Ukraine in her heart.
She will soon turn 14—an age when the world should be bright and safe, but her childhood has been destroyed by war.
Those who destroyed her city and tore her away from her family are attempting to strip away her identity. However, the girl stubbornly holds onto her language, her memory, her roots, and her love for her Motherland. Her inner world is a space of resistance that cannot be occupied.
This performance is a painful and vital reminder of the fates of thousands of Ukrainian children kidnapped and forcibly deported to Russia.
We thank the Mykola Kulish Kherson Theatre for a profound, honest, and extraordinarily emotional artistic event.
