In 2021, in Ukraine we widely celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lesia Ukrainka and Vasyl Stefanyk and the 165th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Franko. In order to represent the work of prominent Ukrainians, the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi joined the all-Ukrainian commemoration of Ivan Franko, Lesia Ukrainka and Vasyl Stefanyk. At the end of February, the video reading contest "The Greatness of the Word of Famous Ukrainians" started. By creating video miniatures the contestants conveyed their original vision and feeling of the works by Ukrainian classics.
A talented actor and film-director, wonderful poet and lyricist, masterful prose writer, children's writer - all this is about Mykola Vingranovskyi. This year our talented compatriot would have turned 85 years old. One of the brightest representatives of the sixties was spoken about on November 4 during the cultural and educational lecture "Mykola Vingranovskyi and We" in the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi.

The tradition of naming parks and squares after writers and poets exists in many countries around the world. Mykolaiv was no exception. It is possible and necessary to mention well-known squares that all Mykolaiv citizens know namely squares named after T. Shevchenko, O. Pushkin. We are talking about the Literary Square, a small green area, the history of which is already full of interesting facts and events. The Literary or "Literator" Square (according to official documents) is located nearby the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi on Potemkinskaya Str., 143a.
